Stuart Barrow
Associate
Stuart loves being in soggy landscapes, trying to understand why they exist and how they function. He obtained a Master’s degree in Conservation Ecology at Stellenbosch University. His thesis studied the recovery of indigenous fish populations following the removal of alien fish from the Rondegat River in the Cederberg. Since 2015, Stuart has worked as a consulting aquatic ecologist on a variety of freshwater impact assessments, water use license applications and river length maintenance management plans. Stuart is also passionate about seeing the next generation of young people equipped, through education, to build a brighter future for themselves and for South Africa. Since 2022, Stuart and his wife, Adele, have founded and run Lighthouse Academy, in Villiersdorp, Western Cape.
